Small business owners always face the challenges of entrepreneurship: rent/mortgage, taxes, employees, overstock. The list can seem endless.
But have you considered what is working in your favor? Your best-selling product or service.
Determine what sells best at your small business and utilize that product or service to promote yourself.
While every business prides itself on exceptional service and an amazing customer base, sometimes taking a few minutes to consider your specialties and promoting those assets, will lead to increased name awareness around town.
For instance, if your pancakes are a hot seller (no pun intended), don’t hide them as a brunch-only offering. Have a special Pancake Wednesday once a month. Or, if you provide a cleaning service and are especially known for making windows sparkle, promote that as your specialty. If customers clamor for your specialty items, consider offering a percentage off these products from time to time. And don’t forget to ask for feedback in the form of online email responses (with the promise of a raffle drawing to those who respond).
This concept goes back to one of our earlier pointers about marketing your organization’s USP (unique selling proposition). Every small business has one — yours does, too! And as the Chief Entrepreneur it is your job to identify your small business’s USP and make it work for you.
