Clearance! Discount! BOGO! Rebates!
The fact that a customer’s favorite word is “Sale!” is no secret. All of the above exclamations are tantamount to a feeding frenzy when it comes to bargain shopping.
Here’s another way to add value to your customers’ shopping experience – co-op sales.
I received an email the other day from my family’s favorite sports retailer. We’re in there all the time for tennis sneakers, basketball shoes, gear, etc. BUT! The email’s subject line encouraged me to “SHOP at the Sporting Goods Store to SAVE at an Office Supply Store.”
Two birds, one email.
I dug a little deeper. Seems these two powerhouse, non-competing retailers identified me as someone who would benefit from good deals in both places. That caught my attention, as it surely would impress your customers as well. So, if I shop at the first retailer, with all their special sports-related items aimed at the new school season, they’d hand me a coupon for $10 off back-to-school supplies at the other store. Not a bad deal!
That’s your cue to think of creative ways shoppers at your establishment could save money at a store down the block, across the strip mall, or even the next town over.
A pizzeria and a yogurt store. A pet shop and a toy store. A bakery and a craft store.
Seemingly far apart, yet mismatches made in marketing heaven. Be creative in your selling ideas, and it’s sure to be popular with your customers.
