Do not make the mistake of simply spouting love of your business to the world. The phrase “target market” has the word target in it for a reason. If you sell fabulous low calorie muffins, there is no need to target those that have made it clear they are not currently health conscious. However, if you overhear someone lamenting that they would love a sweet but not the weight that comes with it, be ready to swoop in and save the day with a sample. If you want to market on social media, hit those groups that have members that will actually be interested in your product. Better yet, use savvy keywords and hashtags to make sure those looking for what you are offering can find you when they are searching.
Beware of going overboard with marketing and promoting. It would seem there is no such thing, but with so much coming at us from so many different platforms daily, it is very easy to become desensitized. You do not want that. You want them to take notice of you. So while you are being bold and being personal, be certain you are not blending in with the rest of the rabble in the background. Be sparing, and make what you do count.
