In our tech-advanced society, do you ever feel surrounded by screens? Since this form of communication is on the rise, it’s best for your small business to make technology work for you. Many food and beverage entrepreneurs are getting creative at doing just that.
Recently, my family ate breakfast at a local diner, where several flat screen televisions were strategically placed throughout. While a few screens served up local cable news, most showed a series of advertisements featuring area small businesses. I counted 12 ads before the rotation completed, followed by a local trivia question.
Most ads followed a simple format – company logo, photo, a phrase of two about their products or services, and contact information, including a street address, phone number, hours, and sometimes a website. All the ads used vivid colors and, perhaps most important, shops featured in the ads were located near the diner. In fact, the restaurant even appeared as one of the ads on screen.
From plumbers and dog groomers to hair stylists and health care professionals, these local businesses are making the most of an advertising opportunity. And while this location provided food and beverages, many other small businesses (barbers, nail salons, doctors’ offices, etc.) also mount televisions on their walls as their customers wait for service, often staring at that very screen for a few minutes of distraction.
This isn’t just a marketing opportunity for your small business, it’s a chance for you to work with your neighaboring small business colleagues to reach customers, who may need your products or services in the near future. Of course, you need to consider your target audience when you approach businesses and decide what type of ads you wish your company to be associated.
And with all the technology available, creating simple ads can be a snap. Don’t forget to sprinkle in trivia questions – sure to bring a smile to your customers’ faces – as you take advantage of an opportunity to help generate more business.
