Local roads in a small town are always busy – from parents driving their children to school and then to after-school activities and seniors out and about with their errands to trucks and vans of various sizes, making local deliveries.
Recently, while waiting at a red light, I found myself staring at the back of a medium-sized truck with these words emblazoned in large letters: “Support your area florists, buy local.” The side of the truck did not reveal its local business partner, only the words: “Fresh Flowers” and its business address, located in the nearest big city.
This simple truck advertisement reminded me of all the time I spend traversing around my own local towns and all the vehicle signage that I take in, almost without realizing it. Numerous family mini vans proudly display favorite vacation destination spots and local schools on rear windows. Area contractors and sub-contractors promote their services, often in great detail across the side of their trucks. Even local music teachers and driving schools advertise their small business on their cars.
Think about it. You can literally have an ad “running” 24/7 – even when your car is parked.
If you’re really ambitious about this form of advertising, you can go all-out with special designs and creative elements. Keep in mind that removable magnetic signage allows you to “transfer” your ad from vehicle to vehicle.
In a world where the public is bombarded with messages at every turn, this type of billboard-like promotion gets a lot of attention from very captive audiences – people seated in their vehicles. And advertising on the go has never been easier, especially with an abundance of magnetic stickers readily available to promote every type of small business.
Check out your local sign company – another way to support small business – and see what they have to offer. You may be pleasantly surprised by the affordability of today’s on-the-go advertising.
