Fashion is a seasonal business. Sales slow dramatically in January and February, so manufacturer inventories rise and prices drop. Importer and wholesale distributor Am-Tex Apparels sees this as an opportunity to buy at a dramatically reduced cost.
Bishwajit Majumder, company owner, explains, "We can buy merchandise more cheaply during January and February. We stock up now while prices are low, and hold inventory to sell when prices rebound in the spring. It's the best time of year to buy."
Am-Tex Apparels is a New York City-based importer and wholesaler of casual clothing for men, women, and children. Majumder explained to case manager, Sam Dophen that he sought $25,000 to buy inventory.
